Your host, Betty Kankam-Boadu
Betty Kankam-Boadu is a journalist and media advocate. She is co-founder of the Ghana Women Experts project, an initiative aimed at preventing the elimination of women experts’ voices in news media.
She’s worked for organisations like the Media Foundation for West Africa, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, among others, where she provided communications support through storytelling and brand visibility.
Inspiring Open is important because it shows possibilities. Despite all the things in this world designed to see women as afterthoughts, we don’t have to buy into that.
There are no limits and there should be none in our quest to change the world in our corners as women and Inspiring Open reinforces the fact we don’t have to do it alone because there’s beauty in bringing so many people along in the process of making the change we seek.
As an accomplished journalist, she worked with Citi Fm, a respected public interest radio station in Ghana as a reporter and news anchor. There, she became the second of only two women to anchor the station’s coveted and hither-to mostly male anchored news programme.
Betty has also worked with Ringier Africa Digital Publishing, a leading African media company owned by Swiss media giant Ringier AG, where she rose to become the only woman Editor-in Chief.
The intention behind Betty’s work is to build a community of women who are unafraid to take up space and change societies.
